Rape Crisis UK reports that only 5% of victims report crimes, and globally, only 20% of the 2.5 million reported rape cases undergo DNA evidence analysis. Significant challenges exist, including gaps in sample collection, storage, and transport, the high cost of setting up and operating forensic labs (Footnotes 1, 2), and a shortage of skilled analysts.

While this issue varies by region, addressing these gaps is essential.

Biosecure ID's Universal DNA Analysis Platform (UDAP)

Applied Genetic Testing utilises a common technology stack for DNA/RNA detection and analysis.  Our goal is to develop a multimodal solution for broader Applied Markets ecosystem, however our starting applications will be in human identification and DNA biometrics (HID) – a $1.2B opportunity.

 

HID market is moving towards Point of Contact DNA testing, with DNA can result in rapid ID of persons of interest at the border control, at scene of crime to collect case intelligence and many use cases where real-time intelligence can result in case investigations. Many countries are upgrading their disparate biometric systems into a combined multi-modal biometric platforms with deep learning algorithms for different use cases.  UDAP’s aim will be to evolve as the DNA testing algorithms mature for target use cases and the regulatory and privacy framework across the globe.
